Dawn’s Music Studio

I have loved Music my entire life. I started practicing the violin when I was seven years old. By the age of nine, my parents provided both a violin and piano for me to practice. When I was 10, I began playing the piano at Church and continue to do so every Sunday.

As a child, I attended both public and private schools. During those years, I accompanied the Choirs. played in the Orchestra, took part in Solo Festivals, City Festivals, State Festivals, All City Orchestra and Youth Symphony. I lettered in Orchestra and Choir.

I graduated from East High School in 1985. I was voted most outstanding Vocal Music Senior and earned a scholarship to Wichita State University. I received my Bachelors Degree in Piano Accompanying in 1989. During my years at Wichita State, I remained on the Dean’s Honor Roll each semester and was awarded into the Golden Key National Honor Society.

I was married in 1992 and have two children (Joshua and Jennifer) with my husband Jerry. I returned to Wichita State that same year and worked on my Music Education degree. I student taught at Gammon Elementary and Coleman Middle School earning my teaching certificate. I began my teaching career in 1996 at Mead Middle School in Wichita, Kansas where I taught Vocal Music 6-8 grades for 17 years.

In 2016, after retiring from the classroom, I began accompanying at South High School. I loved playing the piano and admired the dedication and excellence of the High School music students. I continued to accompany for the Wichita Public Schools until Spring Break of 2020.

in April 2018, Accent Studio Music Academy opened in the Art Park. I was blessed to be a Private Music Teacher for the Academy. On April 1, 2022 (no joke), I had the opportunity to continue at the Art Park with my own personal Studio. I look forward to this wonderful Music Journey.
